Still not crawling... By Shann 1 Year, 9 Months Ago Noah is 8 months old and doesn't seem like he wants to crawl. He sits on the floor A LOT, and I play with him on his tummy every day, but still nothing. The clinic sister at his 8 month check up said he was doing very well and is very strong.
He's been so advanced in most other things, and I think it frustrates him that he cant reach things. He isn't pulling up on anything either. There aren't any other babies around him enough to "show" him how to do it. How could I teach him? I thought because he was a biggish baby he would crawl more easily lol

By nakita_2022 1 Year, 9 Months Ago Hey..all babies are different and will do things at different times...if your doctor doesn't see a problem and is not conserned you shouldn't be.. he will do it when he is ready.... id give him another month or 2 and he will be everywhere!! my first born started at 6 months and my second son started at 8 months..maybe try to put him on his hands and knees to strangthen his arms and legs! good luck and have fun!

Re:Still not crawling... By MorgannsMommy 1 Year, 9 Months Ago My daughter didn't crawl until ll months. We were also worried about her and had her evaluated to see if there was something wrong with her. There wasn't anything wrong which was good to know, put our minds at ease. But the evaluator just gave us some tips for encouraging her to crawl.
If you have a poppy pillow or you can just use you leg, put him on his tummy with his arms on one side of the pillow or leg and his legs on the other. This just gets him used to being in that position. Make it fun for him so he will want to do it on his own. Place lots of toys just out of his reach while he is sitting up or on his tummy. He may get frustrated but his brain will be a working on how to get those toys and he will figure it out. This is what finally worked for my daughter. We had a light up pen that she wanted so bad she could taste it. Finally leave him alone or get out of his range of sight, babies do amazing things when they think you're not watching. My daughter learned to crawl backward before she leaned to crawl forward. She would sit on her hands and knees staring at that light up pen and there was almost smoke coming out of her ears she was thinking so hard. And then she would go backwards and end up sitting on her butt and she would get so mad. Oh, these are some of my best memories. We also got a tip for encourging her to stand because she didn't do that either. But it is important to wait until he learns to crawl before you show him the stand-up thing or he might skip the crawling. Sit on the floor and sit him on your leg with his feet flat on the floor. use your hands to apply pressure to his knees so he can feel the pressure of his feet on the floor and then let him grab your fingers to stand. We did this once with Morgann and she stood up the very first time just holding on to my fingers. Hope this helps. Last Edit: 2010/08/04 14:46 By MorgannsMommy.
