Help!!!

I have very limited space and was thinking about getting a mini crib, has anyone every used one and is it worth it? Should I just stick to a play yard? Thanks for the help!

Just to make sure that we're on the same page...Isn't a mini-crib just a portable baby bed? And by "play yard", do you mean a playpen?

Is a mini crib a bassinet?

I think she means an actual crib/cot that's just smaller in size!


My american friend has one. She moved into an ity bitty flat here with her bub and her and has a smaller cot. It's about 3/4 the size, she seems to like it but her worry is when he gets older it won't fit him as long as a regualr size one would.

And there you go...I don't see the point of spending a few hundred dollars on something that will only be used for a short time. I'd just go ahead and get a crib. A playpen is larger than a crib and is mean't for playing. While it does have a little bit of padding, it doesn't have a mattress, so it probably wouldn't be good for a baby to be sleeping solely in this for any length of time.

I looked these up - and they are actually rather nice to have. They are ideal for small homes, and overnight trips... however, I do agree with Angel. There is a chance that it will be too small once your baby is a little older, which will just put you in another jam.

I would suggest that you do some research and try and speak with actual owners of the mini-crib - owners who have older children now, of course. Did they have an issue with this?

And purchasing a play yard for the use of a crib is definitely not recommended. Although occasional short naps are OK - these should NEVER be used as a full time crib for a child!
