when should they...
By unique names 1 Year Ago
Yesterday my cousin turned 2!
I was just wondering when abouts she should be potty trained? And
be able to speak clearly. It sounds like she says die die! like she's telling the neighbourhood children to die lol, instead of bye-bye. A few weeks ago she keept asking my aunt something and no one could understand her. After a bit she grabed my aunts hands, turned out she wanted to hang. She was saying hang? hang? lol.
Other then that she seems really smart when she was about a year and 2-4 months my aunt would go so and so get your wipes and she'd go to the shelf and get them. When she was a year and 7 months I asked her to turn the tv off and to my surprise she did. At a year and 10ish months I asked my great aunt if she had hair ties, my baby cousin grabed my hand and pointed to a top shelf. Ta-da they were there! lol. At what ages did your children begin to speak?, speak clearly? and at what age did they begin to potty train? ,what age were they fully potty trained? Is she behind?
Thanks a bunch ladies!

I agree with Alisamber, she's probably fine, and if by chance she wasn't, I'm sure you would've heard something from your pediatrician. All children are different, and there can be great differences and variables with each child, and they can all be within normal parameters. For instance, my son wasn't completely potty trained until he was 2 1/2 years old, BUT he knew all the worlds continents by sight and knew all of the United States capitols at the same age! So, don't worry, but if you just need some reassurance from a professional talk to the baby's pediatrician about your concerns during their next doctor's appt.

I know a four year old who has trouble communicating. I can understand him about half the time. But his parents generally know what he wants. It sounds like she's fine; just don't talk baby talk to her, and make sure you really talk to her. Keep her talking so she can practice.

I have a friend whose 5 year old son still wears pull-ups to bed. He's fine during the day but has trouble with wetting during the night.

I'm not sure about speaking because as the other ladies have said, every child is different. My brother is 16 and still finds it very hard to read and write but he's not dyslexic. In contrast, I read at least a book a week and started reading to my brother at bed time when I was 3...

Keep your cousin talking and asking her questions is a great way to help! Questions that she can't just gesture in answer to like; what colour is the sky, what is her mummy's/daddy's name, what her favourite animal is, what she wants for Christmas etc...

Yeah she should be fine! I mean that's completely normal. My dad and step mum didn't start potty training my brother till he was 2 then my mum is already working on my sister Faith who's 13 months might I add (good luck to her) but apparently I was potty trained since I was 18 months during the day and 2 at night.

As for talking eh, that's normal! My brother is 3 and he doesn't talk much at all. He just has never cared and likes to point. We talk to him regularly and he has decided he doesn't want to but he knows sign and much prefers that over. Plus I think he gets confussed between English and Welsh. My dad and I speak Welsh to him while my step mum doesn't know it and speaks English.
