me and my husband are having a baby girl on August 23 and i am so confused on what to name her still. for the longest time we wanted to name her something unusal and unique so we came up with the name majestic. But it was like everyone hated it and thought it was weird, so now my husband is set on naming her alexandria marie and i am not sure about that neither. I am so confused on what to do??? Help!!!!!!!!!!

Alexandria is pretty. Marie is ok. If you're not sure on the names, maybe you could compromise. You could come up with one name you like and your husband could come up with another name he likes. Congratulations and good luck!

May I suggest that you still give her the name Majestic as one of the names and give her a less unique name as the other.
For Example:

Alexandria Majestic

or

Majestic Alexandria (I like this better)

That way, if she doesn't like the name Majestic or has a career as an adult that the name really doesn't fit with, she has a less unique name to fall back on.

I think Majestic is a cute name for a little girl. If you like it, go with it, other people will adjust.

I hear you. Choosing a name can be very confusing. What about Majestic did you like? Was it the M, the uniqueness? the Queenlyness sounding of the name, which I love, by the way. I love Majestic - you could shorten it to Jess, Esti, or Maj.
And Alexandria has the same Queenlyness sound, so you 2 are on the same wave on that. Just talk it out with hubby, because it sounds like you kind of are on the same creative level here, but just need some fine tuning. Remember, this is only one compromise you must make, when you have a baby entering your world. Many more compromises await for you, so you do this with love for eachother, and for your little one, forever, on every decision about your child - you are one, with the same goal, and the same purpose. But yet again every one thinks Alexandria is just as pretty and it can be shorten to alot of different names. I just dont wnat my lil gurl having such a weird name where when people hear it they are like what kind of name is that??? If it was up to you would you go with the alexandria or the majestic

If it was up to me, I would go with the name Majestic, and shorten it to Este (as in Este Lauder)

because you never hear that name, and yet it is so distinctive, and beautiful. When I compare that to Alexandria, I think - firstly, the name Alex is sooooo common, and you hear this name so often, and there would probably be 5 or 6 Alex's in her class. For me, I prefer unique names.

Also names like: Mystique (Misti)
Majella (Ella)
Marisol (Mari)
Mallory (Mal - Lori)
Morgan
are also pretty M names, however, the shortened name is so much more common.
Listen to your instinct, if you like Majestic, and your hubby supports you, go for it. Do not listen to all the other people. This is your decision, and it is such a bonding experience to follow through with your instinct, when it comes to motherhood.
When I was pregnant with my third son, I did not have a name, until the day before he was borne, and I got his name in my Dream that night. Its amazing, how a name comes to you, and you just have to follow up with it. (I never thought of the name Graham Chadwick before my dream, and if I had told anyone it came to me in a Dream, they would have given me a hard time too.) I just have to say again, if you are strongly desiring this name, go with it. It is beautiful, and you will be beaming with pride, every time you get a compliment. Hope this helps you.
