Many of the old Southern names people refer to are hyphenated. My husband was from arkansas. Our first daughter was Lisa Joann and we called her Lisa Jo.
We knew lots of Billy-Bruce, Johnny Ray, Roy Lee, etc. but not all have two names.
My Mother in law had lots of sibs...twins named Maude and Claude(TRUTH), Sisters Susan Jane, Stella, Pearl, Maggie Lou, etc.
Margaret is considered an old fashioned southern name.

Others could include: Dixie, Cody, Clayton, Delilah,Jed, anything that begins or ends with "Jo", Savannah, anything that begins or ends with Sue, Lou, Ann, .

Many of these names are not considered only Southern, but we seem to classify them as such.

My name is Telisa Jo! I like Cody and love Savannah. Cody is my nephew's name though. Maggie is cute. Thanks for your help!

I totally agree with you on the boy names.I couldn't think of anything else.Sorry.My grandpa was born in Oklahoma and his name is Milton Quay{so horrible,they call him Mickey}and my dad was born in Tennessee and his name is Robert Audley {the 3rd.Thank god I was a girl}.So I know those are bad.

My name is heard more in the south than anywhere else I have noticed.My full name is Suzannah {my great-grandpa picked it} and my middle name is Lureen{My grandmas middle name,her 1st name is Geraldine,so glad I got the middle name only}
