Sorry we disappointed you. This really is an "in house" decision.

Remember, Susan on Desperate Housewives had to name her baby Maynard for her husband`s sake. We all have to make sacrifices for the ones we love. I just hope that with the hundreds of thousands of names in the world, you can find one you both love. I do not envy you at all! I do agree though, that you cannot pull rank because you are the one giving birth. That kid is every bit as much his as yours so good for you for respecting your husband enough not to play silly games.

Another way to spell it would be Talyn, Talen, or Tolin.

I actually don't think it is that bad of a name, I've heard of far worse. I agree that it would remind me of an eagle talon car, but if is going to be pronounced Tall-in then it would pretty much be a different form of Colin. Also the fact that the name isn't very common is always nice, and it isn't like the child will forever have to go by that name if he doesn't like it, he could always go by T. Ryan if he wished.

And as for names that are absolutely loved by one party and not the other, I'm going throught that right now. My hubby loves the name Aryan, which pretty much makes everyone think of a nazi. I don't like the name for that reason, but since he loves it so much I told him we could go with a name that was similar to it, so now I'm naming my baby Zarian, still the same name but with that one letter change it isn't that bad.

Perhaps you could ask your hubby what about the name he likes so much, and try to find a name similar to it, instead of having to go with this pick. There are thousands of names out there, and I'm sure that there is another name he could pick that wouldn't be so distressing to you. Also I think that both parents have a veto right, if one parent picks something so horrendous that it just can't be used, the veto has to come into effect even if one side loves the name. Then they can compromise from there. BTW there are quite a few names that sound like Tallen but with a different letter they won't remind you of a claw or a car, and he would almost get what he wants, while you get more of what you want, everyone will be at least halfway happy.

yeah I agree with you I dont really like it either. Maybe your hubby can give you other names that he likes but make him make a list and go from there that why you have his input

Hopefully I can have the last word but I think not, not that I'm that kind of person, but to bring "closure" to this little naming debacle.

Without being sanctimonious ... I would just like you to remember ALL THOSE WOMEN out there, battling for years ... to have ONE baby, who would gladly call their boy Tom, Dick or Harry ... instead of "going back to the drawing board" again and again over ANY name for a FIFTH child!!!

Some of those women may be here looking longingly at names, reading this and probably thinking you're alien.
