Hello, I have a foster child that I am in the process of adopting. His name is Jacob and I am looking to change at least his middle name; but he does know his name is Jacob so I do want to keep it (or go with Jake). I have a 5 year old son that wants Jacob's middle name to be Diego, after one of his favorite cartoon characters--I suppose I should be grateful he didn't choose Spongebob. My 5 year's name is Nathan Dean and does not reflect a family connection but I do come from a family that reuses names every generation (so it may get confusing with multiple cousins sharing names). Since this child is being adopted, I thought I might choose a family name to help reinforce the idea that he is one of the family. On one hand, I had a grandfather named Jake so it could be considered that he already is being named after a family member. Or should I just pick a name that I just plain like (like I did for Nathan?). Our last name is Moon. I would greatly appreciate some input, please!

Hey, thanks! He's 13 months but when he came into my home at 6 months, he was hearing impaired. His hearing was restored after surgery but he only learned his name, Jacob, since May. So I don't feel badly about changing his name--especially his middle name.

My nephew has two middle names. His name is Robert Jacob Dalton. We call him Jake. I think Jacob Dalton is a great name!

Cool! I like Jacob Dalton and I would have never thought of that one. What's neat about it is that is similar in meaning with Nathan's middle name (Dean). So the list is:

I'm glad you liked Dalton. Jacob Dalton was a name I had picked out if I ever had a son but my brother and his wife stole it - lol!
