Circumcision By sweetpea77 3 Years, 8 Months Ago My husband is not and no one is his family wants it. It is a very big religious think. He's Polish and they just don't do it. I say we are living in America not in Europe, it's more hygenic and to me more "normal." And to make maters worse one of our close friends who is also Polish and just went through the same fight with her family ended up going against them and did it anyway. Well the hospital didn't do it right and her son is constantly getting urinary infections and will now require surgery to fix. Once my husband her this he started on his speech again. I hope we have a girl so I don't have this decesion. My mom doesn't agree and my family says do what I feel is best.
Any advise? Don't most people in America do this?

Re:Circumcision By mimigrace 3 Years, 8 Months Ago To me, i think its not necessary unless there is a definate medical reason (someone else said that their childs foreskin was too tight. that would qualify as a medical reason to me).
in the end, i don't know if your religious or not, but somehow it doesn't make sense to me to get rid of something that we're born with, just for the sake of it. (according to the bible, god made us in his image, so why should we meddle with his idea of perfection?

Re:Circumcision By I love my justin, carter 3 Years, 8 Months Ago but then you'll be doing it when there much older and the will suffer from the pain when you can simply prevent it all together and also in the biblical days including Jesus got circumcized unfortunetly they were older and had to deal with the pain

Re:Circumcision By mimigrace 3 Years, 8 Months Ago i didn't say that it should definately never ever be done.
I simply said that IMO it should ONLY be done, when there is a definate medical reason. If there is a history of problems in that area on either side of the family, then that could qualify as a medical reason to. In the end i guess its really a personal choice which each parent has to decide for themselves. I don't think i've ever even seen a circumsized penis, but i'm not 100% sure on that. I just know its not a huge thing to be done in my area.

Re:Circumcision By I love my justin, carter 3 Years, 8 Months Ago im not sure where you live but where I live its very unattractive to see a uncircumsiced penis. And you never know if there is going to be a medical reason or not cus it can occur even if theres no history of medical problems in the family. As I said in my other post in the "first year" column I have known many older men including my grandfather who had to be circumsiced in his fiftys do to medical problems and yes they took well care of it but you really cant stop infections!
My son was circumsiced and never has had any problems
