Hi moms! I was just wondering, I work in the E.R. as a nurse, and I was wondering if any one knew, if being pregnant and being exposed to things could harm the baby inside of you, even if you have all your shots? Does it matter? I'm going to question my supervisor about it, or maybe a doctor. Does anyone else worked in a Emergency room and have been pregnant at the same time? Sorry this may be a dumb question.

Hey iluvandy! I work for two doctors and I know that you shouldn't be exposed to anyone with shingles when you're pregnant because it can affect the baby.

Hey T! So even if you have your chicken pox vaccines you still cant get around them? I have never had chicken pox either!

In the Peds practice I use to work in, they wouldn't give babies the chicken pox shot (Varicella) if the mother was pregnant. Just thought I would let you know that. I never questioned the doctor, I just did as I was told.

o.k. Thanks Granny Nora, I guess if worse comes to worse they can put me some where else, because I'm in the E.R. and all kinds of things come through there! But they keep up with my immunizations, and I have everything I need. Maybe it will be o.k. I know I'll probably be worried about it my whole pregnancy but thats normal right? Thanks!

I know that if you have had chicken pox before then you cant get them and being around someone wont hurt you. I know this because I asked several doctors that question when I was pregnant
