I had a dr's appt. yesterday and up until now I had assumed the hospital where I would be delivering offered water birth since it is so new. No such luck. The closest place that offers water birth is a birthing center in Savannah, 7 hours away.

I'm really really dissapointed. I don't know why and I didn't realize I had my heart so dead set on this. I'm actually very upset and it seems so silly. But this was the only way I had pictured giving birth. I think it might be some kind of control issue or something but I feel like a 3 year old throwing a tantrum because I didn't get my way. I only have 73 days left and I don't think I can do this anymore...

It wasn't really a question, more like a vent....sorry.

buttercup21, I am not in your position, so I don't know how to comfort you. But I hope you can quickly absorb this and be happy again. After all, you are having a great joy of life in 73 days.

Sorry to hear about this. I have an idea though! I'#m not sure if it's possible or if it will work, but i know it's been done before. You could buy or rent (or whatever) a birthing pool for at home and have amidwife to your house!? What do you think? Do you think there's any way it could be done? Sorry if i got your hopes up or something and you're disappointed again, it was just a thought.

hey girl, if you decide on doing the home-birth with a midwife, it might be kind to warn your neighbours... I only say this from experience, when I was a teenager, I was sleeping one night and I heard a lady screaming "OH MY GOD HELP HELP ME!" I thought I was dreaming.... 20 minutes later, the police showed up at my front door and asked my dad if my sister and I were home - the neighbour down the street had called 911 thinking someone was being raped or something and had told the police that my sister and I were teenagers and to check our house to make sure we were okay... lol ... we found out the next day that the lady on the street over 3 houses down was giving birth at home

lol That story made my day Daredevil. Yes Genevra kindly pm'd me about it and unfortunatly homebirth just isn't an option for me. I have military health insurance and they would never cover a midwife to attend a homebirth, and my husband and I just can't afford to pay for it either. And a homebirth does sound great but maybe I'll save that for the second one, when I know what to expect.
