My husband and I are having a God Parent problem. It's to the point now where he dosen't even want Peanut to have God Parents. So I have a question or two.

Do your children have God Parents?

How did you pick them?

Were there any hurt feelings among family and friends and how did you deal with that?

I could really use some advice.....

We chose God Parents for our kids based on who we would want to raise them if we both died. We chose my husband's oldest brother even though he lives in Taiwan and there are other brothers here in Canada. My parents were upset at the thought of all their grandchildren moving to Taiwan but we feel that this would be the best life they could have if we were not around. You have to do what you feel is in your child's best interest. Most likely, you will never have to call on them to do anything for your kids, it is more of an honorary thing anyhow.

i know it was originally a catholic thing but now its basically a honorary thing for who gets the kids if you die

my daughter will go to my brother and my sister in law and it will most likely be the same with the new baby as well

a god parent nowadays is the person you feel would be a great role model for your kids, someone for them to look up to, and someone who will take care of them in the event that you cannot.

my sister is the god mother, she is my best friend and the best role model you could have for a kid. she is willing to help in any way possible. she loves my kids as if they were her own.

men commonly dont want god parents because they are convinced they will not die in their kids lifetime. you could explain to him that godparents also serve as role models, babysitters, friends, helpers, and a good source of information if your kids have a question but are embarassed to ask you.

Here's my problem.

I want my bestfriend Mia* and her fiance Mike* to be the GodParents. They are finishing up college and have a very bright future. They plan on getting married in may and would provide a very safe, stable and loving home.

My husband wants the God Father to behis best friend *Ron. Ron is 25, lives at home with his parents and girlfriend *Shelly and smokes pot ALL THE TIME. He is a roofer and gets laid off every winter.

The problem? We hate Ron's girlfriend *Shelly. We don't want her to babysit let alone be a God Parent. My husband is afraid that if we name Mia and Mike God Parents along with Ron but NOT Shelly that Ron will get upset and offended.

My husband's sollution is to not name any God parents and if something happens to us then our parents will get our kids. He does not realize that our parents aren't getting any younger. I want Peanut to have a good set of God Parents in case something happens to us and frankly I don't care who I p*** off.

Seth and Elliot and Wyatt's Godfather is my best friend Mateo and his wife Ahna, But unfortunately last year they passed away. So there second god parent's are TJ's mom and dad and We chose them because I know if we do pass away, there's TJ's sister Missy living there who can help out + TJ's mom and dad are still fostering children at there age so I know they could look after Seth, Elliot and these twins + any future children
