How accurate is Ultrasound on finding out genders?
By leftAndGone 3 Years, 7 Months Ago
Hi mommies,

im sure many of you have found out the genders of your precious babies in the wombs. I am curious, how accurate ultrasound is on this. has anyone been told that she was having a boy, but then it comes out to be a girl? or the other way around?

i am just wondering if i should prepare some girl names and girl clothes if my baby is not a boy as i was told.

hope i don't sound silly with this question.

I think in most cases its the other way around. They say its a girl but then its a boy because they dont see his manhood right away. Im pretty sure once they determine its a boy thats what it is.

Not 100% of the time. I know 2 sets of parents who were told they were expecting a BOY but a baby GIRL came out. One of them is my own brother. Myself have 2 boys and expecting our 3rd in Feb 09. U/S said its a girl but not buying too many pinks just yet - just in case . Hope that helps.

Your question is not silly. these days it is more correct than it used to, but once in a while an error can still be made. Chances are if ya see a kickstand...it is a boy!!

DEPENDS ON THE MACHINE AND THE TECH!! I MEAN THERE IS ALWAYS THE CHANCE OF HUMAN ERROR BUT MOST OF THE TIME IT IS ACCURATE. I WAS TOLD WITH MY SECOND SON THAT HE WAS A SHE!! WE EVEN STARTED BUYING PINK STUFF HAD A NAME PICKED OUT AND EVERYTHING BUT COME TO FIND OUT A MONTH LATER SHE WAS MOST DEF A HE!!!! LOL OH WELL! BUT THIS WAS HUMAN ERROR BECAUSE THE SAME DOC TOLD MY SIS IN LAW'S FRIEND THAT SHE WAS DEF HAVING A GIRL!! THEY HAD EVERYTHING PINK I MEAN EVERYTHING!!!! BUT ON D-DAY SHE CAME OUT A HE!!! LOL

Well they were correct when they told me I was having a boy. I hope when I have more they dont screw up cus yeah that would suck!
But I have seen on the tv show "Baby Story" That they told her they were having twin boys so they got everything blue even painted a boyish moral in the room even with boy wall paper and on D-day first baby came out "Its a Girl" second baby came out "Its another Girl" How funny!
