Hi, I'm Anna

My daughter is 14 years old, and she plays soccer. About 8 weeks ago today, she started complaining about pains in her lower leg, she said the pain was on the inside of her lower leg, above her ankle, and on her tibia, I believe. About 3 weeks after the complaints, I took a look at my daughter's leg and realized that there was a small swollen bump there. It was about an inch up, 2 inches wide. She complained that it hurt a lot in the morning, when she got up, and she was limping a lot in the first 2-3 hours of the morning. She limped all day, just not as much, and the pain increased a bit, it also hurt when she walked up the stairs or ran in soccer. Now this pain is on the left leg.

So I took my daughter to the doctor about 5 weeks into the injury. The doctor took an x-ray and saw nothing, she said just ice it and IV profin, and it should be better in 2-3 days, but, it wasn't. The doctor said that The bump got more swollen, and the pain hadn't decreased, so I took her to the doctor again about a week and half ago. She said that, after taking another x ray, that she saw the bump, and it was a swelling of the outside of the bone and should be better in a few days, but now, about 1 1/2 weeks later, it is still hurting her, and she came home today complaining about the other leg hurting her!! I can feel a smaller swollen bump forming. I'm not sure what to do, take her to the doctors again, or just let her rest it?

I WOULD TAKE HER 2 ANOTHER DOCTOR,THEY MAY FIND SOMETHING THAT THE OTHER DOCTOR MAY HAVE OVER LOOKED.

I would definitely get a second opinion. She may need more than an Ex-Ray, like an MRI or something.
I hope she is okay.

Take her to another doctor. It does take a week or two to show the break. The told my brother that his wrist wasnt broken so he kept using it and it still hurt so he went back to the doctor and sure enough it was broken he had a broken wrist for two weeks without a cast on so it took a lot longer to heal.

Something is obviously wrong take her to get it checked out

maybe its cellulitous an infection of the tissue under the skin you can get it from scratching causing a cut and bacteria getting in the cut they put you on antibiotics to get rid of it

Addie (my daughter) came home today, the bump on her other leg a bit bigger than before. She is now complaining of sharp pains going up the outside of her left leg, the leg that originated the pain. It is in her mid leg, on the outside, and Addie says it feels like a sudden sharp venom shooting up her leg for a second, then it stops, and starts again in a little while, these have started today.

I think that she is having shin splits, but I'm not too sure because there is a swollen lump on the inside of her lower legs, as I explained before, and I thought shin splits were not supposed to be swollen, or have a lump, and there is a certain spot (the spot with the bump) where she can actually pick out the pain, because pressure on that area hurts, and I don't know if you can do that with shin splints. It is not like she is not hurting in other spots, behind her ankle hurts when she runs a little bit, however I think that is because she is babying her foot, and limping when she plays soccer, therefore hurting it more.

I'm not sure if it is shin splints, or what. Let me know, everyone!! Thanks again
