I kinda agree with you... I once knew this couple who knew they were having a girl, and said they were going to name her Ivan.. that's a boy name. And so i suggested Ivana, which is the girl version of the name Ivan and they decided to go with that. Although, it's like the name Ariel, that name was originaly a boy name but ever since The little mermaid, it is considered to be a girl name when in fact, the girl version of it is really Ariella...

i dont think anyone has the right to tell other people what not to or to name their child. i personelly love the idea of unisex names on girls and dont like them as much on boys. this is my personel opinion. where i live (AUS) you dont see many kids with the name Avery anyway and when i first heard of it (on this site) i thought it was a girls name, and not a boys name. if your going to say we'll start naming our sons girl names what about Lauren?? Lorin is a "boys" name and its pronounced exactly the same and means the same thing as well (according to the naming book i have). its says its just a different way to spell Lauren. i love the names Parker, Jordan, Ashton and Tyler on girls and also love them on boys. i know a lil girl called Hunter and shes very feminine. i think the parent can name there child whatever they want. sorry if i offened anyone but i feel strongly on the topic that you can name your child whatver you want and if a parent wants to name their daughter Avery then so be it, whether it be a "boys" name or a "girls" name.

These are all unisex...and that's just the letter "S".

The fact is, anybody has the right to basically name their child WHATEVER they want. If I want to name a girl Jamie, I can. If I want to name my daughter Addison, (which is also originally a boy's name) I can do that too. There's not much you can do about the kids teasing him - whether its his name or not, kids will be kids, and they'd find something else to pick on him for. Don't be upset that women have named their daughters the same name, and when he's older he'll learn to appreciate his name, and thank you for not giving him a name like John Smith

Actually Avery is a girls name.
I dont know where you live but here in the states there are lots of girls named Avery, in fact I had a Avery in my class when I was younger. I have never seen or known or heard of an Avery for a boy.

But I see where your going and I agree with you but I also think that it is not right to name boys after girls

I agree with everything RandomChick said.

I think we need to be a lot less judgemental about names. Its a parents right to name their child whatever they want. it is also a childs right to change their name when they are old enough
