my patience has its limits By katherineadams 3 Years, 6 Months Ago Ok i'm sorry i just need to talk to someone because if i don't i'm going to explode!
I don't know what to do to control my 16 year old son. I just don't know what to do he keeps getting in trouble (im talking about serious trouble) and ignoring my rules and punishments! What should i do? I CAN'T HANDLE THIS ANYMORE! Sorry to bother you with this "silly" problem. Last Edit: 2008/11/05 13:29 By katherineadams.

By iluvandy 3 Years, 6 Months Ago Gosh hun I dont know what to tell you because I dont have any kids yet, but I know this has got to be a hard situation for you. You may want to consider getting him help. Its expected out of teenagers to act like that but there should still be some dicipline involved. I would look into boot camp or something and dont drive yourself crazy. If you need to talk more, you can PM me.

Re:my patience has its limits By happytohelp 3 Years, 6 Months Ago I no what you mean, my mother went through a stage like that with me i was 14 and did'nt like the fact my brother was getting more attention then me, they took him everywere and when i would ask they would say later or not today and it really got to me, i don't think i realised that they did things for me to. So i grew a bit selfish and snobby (i regret to say) and i knew that i was'nt acting right so after around 5 months of being that way i changed and it really improved my life.
I know you can't just talk to him because it is'nt that easy because they tend not to listen or get really angry with you "saying that you don't understand" and so on.. but i think that his friends may be the influence on him, so i suggest to get to know his friends and see what they're like and if not is it a girl? or is he gettng stressed out with schoolwork check!. Because i was!! If you need anymore then you can PM me

Re:my patience has its limits By puck 3 Years, 6 Months Ago how much trouble? like minor stuff at school etc, or has it progressed to worse things? i was the *ahem* difficult teenager. i can honestly say my parents tried everything. i have been to any type of therapy/counselling you can imagine, and of course i didnt listen to my parents. at one point i was arrested and taken to juvy hall, and my parents did not come and pick me up right away. they left me there for 2 days. i came out more rotten and resentful than before. what finally worked was being sent to a boarding school(yes they do still exist)in Ireland. I was there for 18 months. I grew, i learned, i missed my family. when i returned, i no longer took my life at home for granted. Dungannon was not a bad place, but it taught me a lot, and they helped me back onto the right track. hopefully it does not come to this for you, but if it does i can put you in contact.
good luck.
