What are some issues that concern you, for your baby, when they will become adoslescents.

Here in Canada, there is a 15 yr.old boy, who was spending alot of time playing his playstation - him and his parents argued, on Thanksgiving day, about his spending too much time playing - and the son left the house, and did not return. Yesterday Nov. 7, hunters found him in a bunch of reeds, over 6 feet tall, curled up in a ball, dead, due to exposure. Had the parents handled this differently, their son would still be alive.

Which issues would you become dogmatic about. When is it necessary for a parent, to make something a battle with the child???

If my son/daughter liked playing games i would except it, they are my child no matter what and everyone has different intrests, as long has their school grades did not suffer then it would be fine. They could be the biggest "nerd" as they call them and i would'nt care because they are my baby and will always be. They could grow up to multimillionares or just have a job that is just right and i would'nt care because at least i have known i have done my job as a parent.

I heard about that too, Genevra. It's very sad.

What happens at my house is my mom and dad know the password to the computer and they type it in and my brother and I each get (roughly) an hour a day on the computer. We can split it up, like half an hour here, a half an hour there, 15 minutes here, 15 there, 15 there, and there, or we can just spend our full "hour".

Oh that's sad My little brother, 9, is addicted to video games, I can see him doing the same thing in this situation when he's older.

I don't agree with you on this one, pouse. Although I respect your opinion, I think that it can and does get much worse than just "playing video games whenever they want". Soon even severities can occur, just like the story Genevra shared about the boy, and some people base their lives on those games. One kid quit school I heard, to become a professional guitar hero player. That kid who ran away from home recently, he quit school to play his game. It does get to the point of severity, and there SHOULD be limits, I think, if parents want to protect their children.
