I think it depends on the origin of the name. One of my best friends name is Andrea and everyone calls her Ann-dree-uh even though it's pronounced Ann-drey-uh. She Hispanic and I guess that's why, since it's pronounced differently when you go south of the border...

I know what you mean! I think the school should listen to her. Grandma should know her name. My first name is simple so no one gets it wrong, but my last name is Ramirez. Everyone says Rodriguez. It drives me crazy. They totally just don't even pay attention and call me a completely different name that is so different.

i definatly understand what you mean, my oldest daughters name is Kherington and her dance teachers constanly call her Katie and even if she had a nickname it would be Kheri (carrie) but right now she goes by Kherington. My other daughters name is Lorelai and people always call her Lori but i really like Lorelai because it is very proper and i dont want her to get hooked on a nickname......maybe in the future my girls will have nicknames but right now i like them to be Kherington and Lorelai
