I found out last night that she developed HELLP syndrome due to the pre-eclampsia. If you do not know what this is, it is a severe liver disease. It is life-threatening, but it is rare that it ever gets this bad. The RN at the hospital last night told me that he had never had a patient to experience the life-threatening effects of HELLP syndrome, but he learned about it in school.
She is in an ICU coma, they call it. She has not woken up since Saturday. Her liver and kidneys are trying to shut down. She is swollen to double her normal size, no joke! She has been receiving blood tranfusions. She has a severe hematoma in her stomache. She does not look like the Laura I know.
She has flatlined two times, but prayers work and she is a fighter because she is still alive! She is going to make it through this. I know she is.
I am sure she has no idea her baby boy has came into the world. We all only imagine the joy of when babies arrive...we never imagine something like this. Baby Drayden needs his mommy. Please continue to pray.
