Glee, anyone? How about some vampires instead?

So I watch this show on Fox called Glee. It's a show about teens, well for teens. The rating is 14+. Comming out of highschool myself I think this show does a good job of portraying what life is like for several different "kinds/types" of teens. My question is, for you guys/girls with children, mostly teens, would you say that Glee is an apporite show for them (teens)? Do you think it is realistic? Do you find that it teaches lessons? I was just wondering about peoples thoughts about it because alot of parents are saying that it's not an apporite show for chindren to watch. But I'm like it's not for children it's for teens. Hint, 14+raiting, takes place in highschool. What ten year old is going to grasp and understand the concepts in Glee. Also I was watching some video signings on youtube for the Vampire Diaries (signings-when the cast signs autographs at events) and there was a bunch of little children waiting in the lines. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that the Vampire Diaries was for teens/adults. So why are small/young children watching it? Isn't it on past their bed time? I don't think that it's right for the PTA and parents to complain about a shows contents when the show is not geared towards that type of audience. What are your thoughts about this subject. Please other teens/people around my age and parents, please enlightin me. Or correct me if I'm wrong.

I think Glee is awesome because of the music. love-it.

I agree, don't complain about something having mature content when it's geared towards mature people. Not everything in this world can be teletubbies, sorry. If you don't want your child to watch it don't let them, but they'll be exposed to it someday no matter what you do.

I also love Glee...and agree that it's not meant to be viewed by children. The parents that are complaining need to take a better look at themselves rather than speaking out against a TV show. Why are they allowing their children to watch a show they don't agree with?

Although the different themes of the show are relevant to teens today, I don't feel that the characters themselves are accurate to real-life at all.

I completely dislike both shows but otherwise I agree. If you don't want your child watching something that wasn't aimed at them to begin with then the solution is quite simple.

I love Glee although sometimes it is a little too ridiculous, but the music is amazing. But I do agree NO child should be watching Glee. I watched some of the Kids Choice Awards and they were saying Glee star Cory Monteith was there and talking about Glee and I just kept thinking oh my gosh none of these kids should be watching it! A lot of the stuff on it is very inappropriate. I watch it with my mom and my little brother will walk in the room and I hate it I just want him to leave but my mom doesn't give a crap. She lets him watch the worst things and I want to smack her.

I totaly understand. I have a 12 year old cousin, (well my ma's boyfriend of almost 10 years, it's his brother's son so we just call them cousins), he is soooooo mature for his age so it's not a issue if he watches shows like Family Guy ect. But his sister is 8 (9 in June) and she watches Family Guy and I'm like shes only 8 and not very mature this isn't a show for her. I posted this post because I'm tired of parents wanting to censor shows, and about them complaining about shows or even worse wanting to canclle shows because of their content. I'm like that's why it's called a teen show. I was just wondering if anyone else shared the same thoughts. I would hate it if they canclled Glee or the Vampire Diaries (the only tv I watch so I would have nothing to watch lol). Or any other "teen" show for that matter. It's like watch your own children don't expect the media (TV, computer, video games ect) to do it for you. I do believe there's tv locks on certin chanels? No? I mean it's not so much age as it is responsibilty or maturity level. Even some 14 year olds shouldn't be watching it.
