I got bored earlier and decided to look up some old wives' tales about the baby's gender to see what (according to them) I could be having. These were the ones I tried and I thought it was kind of interesting, so I thought I'd share.

1. How you're carrying the baby.
If you carry high, large and round it will be a girl. If you carry low, stay thin, and your belly pokes out it will be a boy.
Right now it's looking like a girl for me with this one.

2. Baby's heartbeat.
If the baby's heartbeat measures over 140 beats per minute it will be a girl. Under 140 beats per minute will be a boy.
Last time the doctor told me it was 152 bpm so this one looks like a girl for me, too.

3. Cravings.
If you crave mostly sweet things like ice cream, chocolate, and fruit you're having a girl. If you're craving more salty or sour things and protein like potato chips, tuna, and cheese it'll be a boy.
I've been eating ice cream a lot lately, which is not usually something I'm into so much (I prefer sherbet, but have been going more for actual ice cream lately), so another point for a girl.

4. Chinese Gender Chart.
This is supposed to be about 90% accurate. It goes by your lunar age and the lunar month you conceived in and matches them up to find out the gender. I've heard it has something to do with the conditions of your uterus during certain times only allowing for certain sperm to fertilize the egg. I don't know how to explain it exactly, but it's based on actual science.
The charts I've done this on that do it the right way say I'm having a girl this time, but most charts are wrong when I figure for my past kids on my oldest and the ones that are right on her are wrong on my son.

5. Even or Odd? Mayan chart.
Take your age at conception and the year you conceived in and add them together. If the sum of the 2 numbers is even it will be a girl. If it's odd it will be a boy. Example: I was 23 when I conceived and this is the year 2011. Add 23 and 11 the result is 34 which is even, so I'm having a girl.

6. Acne test.
If you're breaking out more while you're pregnant it's a girl. If your skin clears up you're having a boy.
I've got breakouts on my chest right now, so this is looking like girl.

7. Ring test.
Hang a ring from a string and hold it over your belly. If it goes back and forth it's a girl. If it goes in circles it's a boy.
Mine went back and forth.

8. Morning sickness.
If you got morning sickness really bad it will be a girl. If you had little or no morning sickness it will be a boy.
With this pregnancy I actually had morning sickness (with my others I didn't have any) so I'm going with girl here.

9. Mood swings.
If your moodier than usual it will be a girl. If you're fairly laid-back and happy it will be a boy.
My husband just told me the other day that I've been moody lately. Guess this one looks girl, too.

10. Bread test.
If you eat the end pieces on a loaf of bread you will have a boy. If you only eat the middle pieces of a loaf of bread you will have a girl.
I've never eaten the end pieces of bread, can't stand 'em. Another one for girl.

11. Toddler boy attention.
If a toddler boy gives a pregnant woman lots of attention she'll have a girl. If he doesn't notice her or pay attention to her she'll have a boy.
Aidyn's been a big momma's boy lately, so this looks like a girl.

12. Resting on left or right side?
If you feel most comfortable laying on your left side you'll have a boy. If you're more comfortable on the right side you'll have a girl.
I'm most comfortable on my left side right now, so the first point going for a boy.

13. Breast size.
If your left breast is bigger than the right it's a girl. If the right is bigger than the left it's a boy.
This one is also pointing toward girl.

14. Intuition.
Whatever you "feel" the baby is going to be is what it will be. This is said to be true 70-75% of the time.
I've been right with all 3 of my kids so far and I'm thinking this one will probably be a girl.

15. Hairy legs.
If the hair on your legs grows faster while you're pregnant the baby will be a boy.
Really I just think this is because of the prenatal vitamins, but I'm "boy" with this one.

16. Headaches.
If you get more headaches it'll be a boy. Same or less will be a girl.
I've been getting lots of headaches lately.

Most of these signs are saying "girl" for me. I kinda hope so, but we'll see. Hope you all enjoyed.

I looked these up too before we found out the gender. Everything said boy even the chinese gender chart which is supposed to be very accurate. I even bought the Intelligender test just for fun and it said boy almost instantly. The baby is definitely a girl! It was fun looking up all the differnet ones!

Oh, I have one. If you Plank on the floor (lay flat on your face) and you rock back and fourth, you are having a baby. If you spin around and around, you are having Rosemary's Baby. If you fart, you are having Gas.

Just kidding, all these old wives tales are bull. We tried most of these with my sister and they were about 50/50, which is exactly what a guess is.

Yeah, I know these are pretty ridiculous, I was just bored while my kids were napping. I don't trust them or believe them at all. Honestly, I don't even fully trust the results of an ultrasound. These just sounded interesting and I thought people might get a laugh out of them.

Here's a few others I saw, but didn't try.

Drain-O test:
Pee in a cup and add some Drain-O. If it turns green you're having a girl. If it turns blue you're having a boy.

Key test:
If you pick up a key from the large round end you're having a girl. If you pick it up from the pointy end you're having a boy. If you pick it up in the middle it's twins.

Chain/Necklace test:
This is supposed to tell you not only the sex of the baby you're carrying, but the genders and order of all the children you will have. Take a necklace or chain and hold it over your palm or wrist. If the necklace swings back and forth that means girl. If it goes in a circle that means boy. If the chain slows down then starts again or changes direction that's the break between kids. If it doesn't slow down, but changes directions that means twins or other multiples. When it stops completely that's the end. If it doesn't move then there are no children in your future.

I did these and most came up girl and we will find out the gender in October. My sister just had a baby and hers also came out "girl", however, she intuitively knew she was having a boy and she was right!
