preeclimpsia (sp?)
By Hattie6 5 Months, 3 Weeks Ago
So ladies, I was just wondering if any if you ladies have ever had preeclimpsia or knew anything about it. I found out Friday I did am I'm quite terrified! Pretty much I had an appointment Friday and sent me straight the hospital where I was stuck all day as they were running test and checking my blood pressure. They told me I had it and said take it easy and we will see you after the holidays. They didn't explain anything so I stupidly started looking.info up online and everything is saying its extremely serious and can potentially be deadly if not treated and the only treatment is to have the baby.. well I'm due Feb 10.. I don't want her coming extremely early and honestly I don't know what to do.

*on a side note, hubby and I decided this is for sure our last child. With Charlotte being so early and possibility of this baby being early, we think this is enough. We may adopt in a few years time, but aren't planning on it! I was kind of hoping for an 8th..

Preeclampsia is scary, and it is dangerous for you and the baby. There are really no effective treatments. You should try to relax as much as possible (I know, impossible, right?). Watch for swelling of your hands and face, and headaches. Call your doctor right away is you are swelling up or have a major headache.

I would try to take comfort in the fact that they said "see you after the holidays". Obviously, you're not too terribly bad off right now, or they could be in serious trouble for not educating you more. I think the further along you go, it does worsen, but they must think you're okay for now. Just enjoy the holidays, and be as healthy as you can. Like Reena said, just monitor yourself and call them as you feel the need with questions, appointments, etc. Wait, aren't you going often enough now that you would see them before the holidays are over? Well, best wishes!

Thanks you Reena & Alisamber. Thank you for the warning signs. I'll be sure to pay attention! I don't want little Emmy coming just yet! And Alisamber, yes I'm suppose to be going weekly but we head out Thursday to head out to Italy to spend the holidays with there with my husbands family.. I don't want to have to cancel.

Hattie6, my ex developed preeclampsia when she was pregnant. I would recommend monitoring your blood pressure, as this is a symptom. If it is too high you need to contact your doctor as soon as possible. Get lots if rest and try to keep your feet elevated. Also, watch for severe swelling of hands, feet/ankles, and face. I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes uneventful. Take care of yourself and good luck!

My ex developed preeclampsia when she was pregnant. One of the main symptoms is high blood pressure. I recommend monitoring that as much as possible, especially if you notice extreme swelling of the hands, feet/ankles, or face. Try to get as much rest as you can, keeping your feet elevated. I wish you luck during the rest of your pregnancy.
