"Permanent" Birth Control By Alisamber 5 Months, 1 Week Ago Hey, everybody. Well, my body does crazy stuff sometimes. I had that miscarriage (5 good days of bleeding), and thought I had passed everything. Well, last week I started spotting (very light brown, very light flow). I had a positive pregnancy test again (although I had not been with my husband the whole time). That lasted about 5 days. I was thinking all kinds of things like ectopic pregnancy. I had bloodwork done 2 different days, four days apart. The numbers did show the pregnancy hormone still there, but coming down like it's supposed to. Now I'm supposed to take one more pregnancy test next week to make sure it's negative.
Now, I'd like to ask what you all know about a more permanent birth control. Hopefully some of you "older" ladies/those of you who are finished having children can give me your opinions. Maybe even ask your friends what they are doing? I have an appt the first part of Feb to have something done, I just don't know what yet. The next few weeks I'll be on the internet a lot researching all my options and asking some of my older friends their thoughts/experiences/what they're doing. I'd like real life answers, because I know the official sites of the ones I'll look at will make their product sound good. The main thing is, I really don't want anything with hormones. And I have high cholesterol, so I'm concerned about that. Well, thanks everyone!

Re:"Permanent" Birth Control By Meaghan C. 5 Months, 1 Week Ago The only real "permanent" solutions I know of are getting your tubes tied or your hubby getting a vasectomy. On another site I'm a member of I've heard a lot of women talking about having their tubes tied and how it made them feel afterward. Post tubal litigation syndrome is mentioned a lot. Apparently a lot of women's hormones get out of whack after they have their tubes tied and it can cause a lot of problems like depression, head/backaches, blood pressure and weight issues, cycle changes, etc. I've also heard that depending on which procedure you have done it can be better or worse than others. I know there's several methods, but I can't remember off the top of my head which ways were better or worse for most women.
I know some IUDs can last a long time, but I think a lot of them have hormones. You'd have to research pretty thoroughly to find out which ones (if any) don't have them. I know Mirena is a low dose hormone IUD, but I hated it. It caused too many problems to be worth it to me. When we're done having kids I'm making John get a vasectomy. He's already said he's going to have it done and with my history with birth control it makes me scared to try anything else.

Alisamber: Besides having your tubes tied or your husband being snipped I can't really think of anything permanent! Outside of Reena's suggestion I can't really think of anything really. I have the nexplanon which last for 3 years and they insert it in your arm. Oh and then there is something called essure! I'm not sure what it is but they claim in permanent! I do however not know any information on it!
