My baby girl is due is October and both my husband and I have very different ideas about names. Our surname is Lanning.
We both like strong (1-2 syllables- at a stretch 3), traditional names with easy spelling. I would also like to be able to give the name a feminine, girly nickname such as Grace=Gracie, Beatrice= Bebe.
My favourite names are:

Evie
Ava
Rose
Grace
Olivia
Louise
Beatrice
Zara
Faith

My husband likes:

Jennifer
Rose
Katharine Anne
Chloe

He says he also likes Grace, Zara and Faith (Rose as a middle name as it is a family name on his side) but he isnt enraptured with them- which I would like him to be. I find his names a little on the plain side but since he is so reluctant to think of names in the first place, I dont want to dent his confidence by knocking his suggestions. All I have said so far is: well, lets add it to the list and we can decided when we see her. Very diplomatic, despite of the hormones!

On top of all this, we have two other family girls names, which he says he would like to include but hasnt mentioned as yet: Harley and Marcia.

Any suggestions would be very welcome..... thank you!

I think Ava Rose, Olivia Grace, or Chloe Faith are nice names.

i am also trying to find a name. but a unique name.
Just kep in mind what names have been popular in the last 2-3 years. Ava and Olivia have been extremely popular int he last 3 years.. you will get the same names in the class room ...
but its up to you. Rose is common yet unique.

how about Arianna Rose Lanning? my daughter is 7 and i just love the name, i am due again in January and having a tough time deciding also. i think Beatrice is a lovely name. first thing that comes to my mind is Beatrice from shakespeares Much Ado About Nothing. she is feisty and witty and always does whats right. definetly one of my picks but we're having a boy this time. another combination you could us is Beatrice Anne or Anne Beatrice. very classic.

My husband and I have a very similar problem. We agreed, however, to only pick from names we both like. Therefore our list includes: His names, Our names, and My names with a separate list for Middle names.

Your list would look something like:

His names:
Jennifer
Katharine
Chloe

Our names:
Grace
Zara
Faith

Her names:
Evie
Ava
Olivia
Louise
Beatrice

Middle names:
Rose
Anne

Therefore some of your name options would be:
Grace Anne Lanning
Zara Rose Lanning
etc.

This helped my husband and I becasue we weren't excluding anyones names. He wasn't very interested in looking for baby names either, so when he suggested one I didn't want to turn it down I just said we'll add it to the list. I alos couldn't bare to delete names off of my list every time he turned one down so this way I didn't have to, I just add it to my list. Good luck.
