Yes you do have to let them sleep a little bit the objective is to keep them from getting too much sleep during the day and make them sleep more at night it is easier said than done. keep us posted on how you are doing and you can also send me a PM for more advice as well. Good luck

You could wear lavender water or lotion. so when you place the baby near you the scent will calm the baby down. My Grandmother would do this with my baby and it worked wonders.

She can absolutely sleep during the day; Just not for long periods of time. Wake her, when you feed her, ever two to three hours during the day and at night don't wake her just feed her as she demands it. She will catch on when it is time to sleep and when it is time to be awake.

Good luck, I am glad to here it is going better today.

Also, it helped with my daughter to have noise at night when she slept. Since I had a c-section I slept in the living room on the couch (easier to stand-up and lie down with out assistance) and Morgann slept in a bassinet right next to me. We left the TV and a light on for her; which the nurses at the hospital recommended, and it helped a lot. She would sleep about 4 to 6 hours at night. And her bassinet had a vibrate button on it which work miracles for putting her to sleep.

thanks so much for all your advice,
we bought a bassinet today, i think it should help.
she only slept a total of maybe 5 hours today, but not all at once..

also, my 2 year old doesnt want to sleep in her own room now because the baby sleeps in our room, she will fall asleep in her own bed but in the middle of the night when im up with Em, she will come into the living room and i cant get her to go to sleep in her own bed. i know its normal for actions like this to come from the new older sibling, but any ideas on what i can do?

I feel so sorry for you. My son slept well as a little baby, it was when he hit 5 months he started waking alot.

When he was a new born i would try and give him a feed, change his nappy and wrap him just before i went to bed so that i would get a few hours in. He slept in a cradle in our room.

When he started waking i to went looking for advice. Someone told me to put a shirt i had worn that day in with him in the cot.
Hasnt completly solved the problem but has helped.
I have also heard that lavender on a hanky tied to the cot leg can work.

Good luck hope the bassinet helps.
Dont have advice to help with Saelor coming into your room as i only have one baby so far but im sure some lovely person on here will.
