i really love the name alexis but im thinking that maybe its a little to common so i thinking on doing a little variation on the name and calling my baby ( if its a girl... dont know yet) Lexi-Lou. so what do u all prefer Alexis or Lexi- Lou?

Do you mean you would call your daughter Lexi-Lou as a first name rather than Alexis... or as a nickname?

I love Alexis and think it's a beautiful name, but if you want to call your daughter Lexi-Lou as a first name, i have to disagree. Put yourself in her shoes for a moment and imagine being called Lexi-Lou through all stages of your life. I think the teasing she may get at school would be awful

As a nickname I think it is perfectly cute and goes well with Alexis

Love Lexi it is our 19 month old's name, loved it from the first day i heard it. didnt have any problems with middle name because she was the first granddaughter for my dad and was due on his birthday so named her middle after his but spell't it different "Lexi Rae". Funny tho we call her at home only being silly Lexi-Lou but never for real name!

I'm not a fan of Alexis on a girl but I think it's WAY better than Lexi-Lou, Lexi-lou sounds so...hillbilly maybe, I don't know, it's just too cutesy and it doesn't sit right with me. It will be fine as a nickname.
And whats so wrong with a common first name, your baby won't need a "special" and "unique" name to be special and unique themselves, they can do that on their own.

Alexis or Lexi for a girl are great. Alex for a boy. but please, lexi-Lou would not be appreciated later in life. Only at home. My Lisa Joann, was called Lisa Jo, but sometimes in silliness it was leesy-lou.
Alexa is another way you could go. And so many beautiful middle names to choose from.
