Glucose Test... HELP!!!
By Jessica P 3 Years, 9 Months Ago
I am 28 weeks pregnant and had my glucose screening test yesterday.

The doctor just called me and said that my levels were high, and that I have to go in for the three hour test.

Has this happened to anyone else?
Do I have gestational diabetes?
Wouldn't I KNOW if something was wrong?
What will this mean for my little girl if I DO have it?

I'm confused and nervous! Help!

if they suspect you have GD there is a longer test they will send you for,the same thing basically just longer. your chance of being induced a bit early goes up as GD babies are usually quite big. my younger bro was born at 37 weeks(ish) and was 9lbs 13oz. other than that im not sure.

That has happened to me, They asked me to take the three hour test. Thank god it came up negative but if it would of been positive then they would of sent me for a six hour test And if thats positive you just need to monitor your sugar levels and do every thing as if it were regular dietbeties. The baby is larger and usually need to come out by c-section. But if you do have then after pregnancy you really need to be careful with your eating life style because chances are really high in getting regular dietbeties later in life. But it is preventable with a healthy lifestyle! But dont worry just yet cus like I said I had to do the three hour test in fact everyone I know including my mom had to do it too!

Really?! Thats so weird. My friend had to do it too...
I'm hearing now that the first test coming back high is NOT unusual. That makes me feel way better...

Hi, please do not worry. I had G.D. with my 4th child. I watched my diet while pregnant, and he was a full term, natural, vaginal delivery, weighing 7lbs. 14 oz. When th pregnany ended so did the diabetes.
I did become diabetic in my 40's, but I inherited it from two prior generations, both sides!

My Sister had GB and she had a 10 pound baby...also natural, vaginal.

The test could be wrong. But even if it isn't...this is do-able.

yes but there are all kinds of research saying that if you have gb during pregnancy and if you dont take care of your health chances of developing regular dietbieties are much higher. There is also research done to prove that people who have alot of dietbieties in there family are more likely to develope it during pregnancy. and if you dont believe me then go a0head and look it up
