Hi there.

I understand that this forum is more for naming babies, but I have a question considering a slightly older child...

My niece Amanda and I are very close, and she's entering junior high school this September, and very nervous!

She's asked me for advice about it, but I had a slightly unorthodox schooling, as I went away to a boarding school, as did my sister. She's a single mom, and is always very busy and anxious over something or another, so I think that my niece doesn't want to bother her with her own worries. I told her to talk to her mother about it, but I was also wondering, does anyone have any good advice about entering high school or any interesting stories about their time in high school that I could pass on to her?

That'd be great if anyone was willing to share, thanks so much!

Amanda, remember you are not going to be friends with every one but that is no reason to fell excluded there are alot of people at High school plenty of kids your age, now i don't go to a high school i'm home schooled but i know lots of boys (some girls but mostly boys)
that go to high school and say we home schoolers miss out on alot of fun, so don't be afraid to make lots of new friends.
Us home schoolers are not as dumb as some people think lol.

I've encouraged Amanda to come on here some time herself, and hopefully she will. She and her mom live across town, so I see them quite often, and when they come to my house tonight for dinner I'll tell Amanda what you said. Hopefully it'll help!

my auntie Liz said that i should come on here, and so i did! she said that you were really nice, jade, and thanks for your advice. so far high school has been really great, and you were right, i wont be friends with everybody, which seems kind of weird coming from a small school where i knew most of the kids.

ummm, i guess this kind of answers your question, lol.
