Types of food?

What is a good diet to be on when you are pregnant? Veggies? Meats? Etc. Does a little junk food every now and then hurt you? I just want some information about it, Thanks!

a little junk food wont kill you. just dont go overboard. the more junk food you eat, the harder it is to lose the weight after. things to look out for are:

fish- most fish is okay in moderation, but shark and a few others are too high in mercury and are not reccomended to eat during pregnancy.

hot dogs & deli meats- are okay as long as they are cooked til steaming hot, to avoid listeria

soft cheeses are a non-no- they can cause miscarriage

sushi- the ones with cooked fish are fine, raw fish is a big no-no

raw egg- is commnly found in mayo and salad dressings. i didnt know about this and i had some of it, and my kids are fine, but its better safe than sorry. also softboiled eggs are not so good.

those are just a few that i can think of off the top of my head. i would read a pregnancy book, most have a list of what you shouldnt be eating. if you look on the internet make sure it is from a good source, some if the info out there is wrong, or just plain silly.

and dont forget to take your prenatal's and omegas!

Thanks puck! I had no idea that you couldn't eat the soft cheeses or the boiled eggs. I'm glad I asked! Thanks!

you can have eggs, as long as they are fully cooked, no runny yolk. there are some herbs and things as well that arent good, but i dont have my list with me... also caffiene is not so good, and carbonated drinks, anything unpasteurised.soda is not recommended, but it is okay to enjoy it on occasion. diet soda is in question, because aspartame is thought to cause cancer, although theyre not totally sure. artifical sweeteners are usually made with chemicals.the phosphoric acid if you have enough can cause bone mass loss. energy drinks are also a big no-no. water can help prevent headaches and dizziness.

so basically, if your pregnant, dont eat or drink anything and you'll be fine.
i grew up on a farm, drinking milk straight from the cow, running thru fields with no shoes on, drinking unfiltered water and unwashed corn and stuff right out of the fields. we touched cows and horses and pigs and sheep and chickens and didnt wash our hands after. we ate eggs straight from the hens...with all the research and no-nos out there im wondering how im still alive.
