That would have been a very hard and brave choice, it's easy to say that you wouldnt have done that but put in that situation you have to decided whats best for your child. I think you should go and see her. Do what ever feels right to you and dont let anybody elses judgements affect you

I don't think my opinion is going to be very popular. Unless your life has changed, I wouldn't go see her. If I read your post correctly, it has been 2 years since you have seen her so she would be 5 now. If she has spent all that time in the same foster home, she is probably very attatched to her foster parents. Unless you are prepared to do the work required to bring her home (reaclimating her to you, counseling for both of you, a lengthy visitation schedule so she can get used to being with you again, and eventually bringing her home in about a year), I wouldn't open that wound in her again. Either way, I would maybe write the foster parents first and see how they feel. If a visitation is not in the cards, maybe they could send you some regular updates on her.

I understand what you did was for noble reasons but in her baby mind, all she knows is you gave her away and these new people are her mommy and daddy now. If she is comfortable and safe and happy with them, would you really want to disrupt that?

i partially live with 2 kids who have never met their fateher and a child who ws fostered and all 3 of those kids long for their parent/s and wonder what the are like, why they left, do they love them, will they ever see them. please be a parent who puts that kid out of their misery!
