By ShaeWare 3 Years, 8 Months Ago So we've had our cat for 2 years and recently he's been acting strange. It's gotten much worse over the past two days and honestly I think that we will end up having to put him down tomorrow. ): He's vomitting and totally lathargic. I'm 31 weeks pregnant and I feel so freaked out that him being sick could hurt the baby. I've had my boyfriend changing the cat litter since I found out that I was pregnant to reduce the risk of toxoplasmosis. I'm worried for my cat but far more worried about my baby. Just need someone to tell me I'm overreating so that I can go to sleep! Thanx

Re:Sick kitty By Seaason 3 Years, 8 Months Ago why dont u take it to a vet? it may just have eaten a poisonous toad, mine does, she likes to eat cane toads and they do the same thing to her, or at least phone ur vet to ask ? cant hurt right? u may b able to get medication or something, u may even b told that she will b fine and not to worry... but u wont know if u sit at home and fret over ur cats, ur babes & ur health....

By iluvandy 3 Years, 8 Months Ago I'm kinda in your position too, I have a cat inside and he is so wild! I'm gonna have to put him outside when I have a baby, and when I get new furniture because he like to claw at it and it makes me so mad! Also when I get pregnant my husband already dont have the stomach to clean the litter box, but having an animal in the house isnt really good for the baby because it may make them more alergic to things and sick all the time. But I hope your cat gets better, and yea, I would take it to the vet before you put it down

Re:Sick kitty By miss kitty 3 Years, 8 Months Ago If you've had cat(s) for awhile you've probably already contracted toxoplasmosis and developed an immunity to it. I've had cats in my house my whole life and i'm totally not worried about it. I would just take your kitty to the vet and get him checked out.

Re:Sick kitty By miss kitty 3 Years, 8 Months Ago Having your children grow up around cats will not make them sick or give them allergies. If anything it will they will develop an immunity to allergies and toxoplasmosis. I don't remember a time in my life not having cats in the house and i've always been healthy as a horse,no allergies, nothing. The same goes for my siblings. Most of what you hear about cats making your kids sick is all a myth from over-protective,worrysome people!! Also the threat of sickness is lower from a strictly indoor cat vs. a cat that is allowed outdoors...god only knows what they pick up outside, fleas, ticks etc. I hope this helps. I am a huge cat lover and have done alot of research on them. some people just give them a bad name and it's so not true!!!!

Re:Sick kitty By I love my justin, carter 3 Years, 8 Months Ago My sons peditrician said the exact same thing that iluvandy said. Its not good to have pets around a new born at first because they can give them allergies. Also when I was pregnant my obgyn also told me even though I had my cats for awhile and was always around them I still should not change the litter. So I didnt whats the point at taking the chance and putting my health and babies health at risk
