DONT BE SCARED...When i gave birth to my twins when i was 18 i had a c-section although i had no choice considering the circumstances... I just had another baby boy a couple of days ago and i delivered him vaginally with no meds and i can honestly say i wouldnt have done it any other way.....i dont know how u take pain though so i cant really tell u much....what do U think u want to do???

I'll just tell you how it went for me. I went 5 days over my due date, and my husband and I had been walking, walking, walking the last month. So we continued. I had a doctor's appointment the morning of the 5th day over my dd and my doctor checked me-almost 4 cm. (I think walking helped)So he said I could go on to the hospital if I wanted to. He would go ahead and put the epidural cathedar in but not the medicine till I asked for it. And then he broke my water after that. I began contracting (actually when I first got there the very first thing was the enema, and as soon as I got that, I lost my mucas plug and started cramping and having contractions, it felt like period cramps) Anyway, I got to 5 1/2 cm and began stalling for over an hour, so they had to give me pitocin. The nurse asked if I wanted my epideral then, so I told her yes. So the doctor came in, put the medicine in the cathedar, and it wasn't long that I couldn't feel the contractions, just the tightening of them. Then 4 hours later, our son was born. It did not hurt, I just felt the pressure of him coming out. But I didn't have any side effects of the epidural and it began wearing off a couple of hours after he was born. The actual procedure of getting the epideral put in was not as bad as I'd always thought, either. The cathedar is very tiny, and you will be numb from a few shots so you don't feel it when it is inserted. Some women do have headaches afterwards, but not always; I didn't. So anyway, if you decide to go with an epidural, it's not that bad and it allowed me to enjoy the whole birth experience and I didn't feel drugged or anything when my son was born.

I had a last minute planned C-section with my first daughter. I was due July 17 of 06 and on Friday the 7th I went in for my usual weekly checkup and ultrasound. By this point I was not even beginning to dilate and my daughter was just insisting that she was not ready to be born. Anyways during the ultrasound he took all of her measurements and such and the machine calculated her weight at 11lbs 11oz. My doc said there was no way she was that big, but he said I'd expect 9-10 pounds, but we'll go ahead and schedule a c-section. That tuesday I went in for the section they stuck the needle in my back, which I thought was going to hurt much more than it actually did and from that moment until the shot wore off I felt NOTHING. I didn't even know they had started until they told me and he was already getting the baby out. Ofcourse my stomach hurt afterwards and for about 2 weeks more as it healed, I also couldn't lay flat because I hadn't done it in the hospital. But all the pain was worth finally having my daughter who did weigh 11lbs 11.2oz I also had no side effects, headaches or anything. Now my second C-section has been planned before I even had my first check-up lol. My advice to you is to do what your doc thinks is best, or what you feel is best for you and the baby and TRY not to be to scared because the end result is more than worth it.
