The mom of the triplets reads every label before the children are allowed to eat it if it has preservatives they can't have it. They are two years and are not allowed to drink colddrinks only tea.
I think this is to extreme.

I think it depends on the child, the amount of sweets and how their body processes sugar. For the most part, I don't think it makes a significant amount of difference. Now caffeine on the other hand...that's a different story

its usually the artificial flavour and colour that does it, and some preservatives. in most cases the sugar does nil.

Well i dont belive it in all sweets because my eldest only gets hyperactive if you give him skittles and the other if you give him smarties but if you give them anything else they seem to be fine.

sugar = energy!!!!
i am in total agreeance withur friend... my kids are not allowed any additional unnatural sugars unless its like a b'day or xmas or hallowe'en.
i am pregnant with my fourth and i have learned by trial and error what foods effect my kids in different ways, that means no soda, candy or overly processed foods or any crap like that, its not good for them on so many levels, teeth , hyperactivity, not to mention all the preservatives in the makeit difficult for a little body to digest preperly, when my kids want something sweet they get fruit or juice ice pops or yoghurt or i make my own mango ice cream ((its so siple anyone can make it from any fruit, try it its preservative and colour free))and they drink ONLY water....
its not extreme, its diligent parenting and ur friend should be congratulated for her perserverence and good parenting rather than condemned for trying to give her kids the best start in life!!

my point is that there are no benefts from feeding ur children junk, u r only forming unhealthy eating habits that will last a lifetime and may lead to things like obesity and heart disease,

dont get e wrong , im not a health freak hippie, i just want my kids to live long and healthy lives, so im trying to gve them the best start possible... like any good mother should want to!
