twins sharing a crib
By Daniela 3 Years, 6 Months Ago
ok so my sister came over the today while my neice and nephew were at school etc and we started to set up the nursery for when the twins finally come home (my hubbie Athen and i didnt do it before i had the twins as we were expecting a little longer) and we have two cribs for when they are older etc, when my sister mentioned a mum from her childrens school who had twins about 6 months ago she said that they instead of sleeping in a basinet each shared a crib...i had never really thought of this before and wanted to know would this be better as it gives them a chance to bond together and then i could separate them when they are getting too big to share...just wondering what peoples thought are on this

i think its a wonderful idea.. after all they ARE 2 halves of the same whole, and after such a wrenching experience birth why would u want to seprate them ? at least untill they are rolling on their own anyway.. let them have this time as infants to still be part of that same whole..

just MO

I agree with Seaason, although I olny have one child right now if I had twins I would definately sleep them together.

thanks heaps when my sister said this i thought it would be a great idea and it meant we didnt have to go buy two basinets as we hadnt yet got them due to the cribs being a gift from our parents...i think this would be wonderful especially when they first come home and are able to get to know each other. what age do you think is recommended to separate, i was thinking i wouold wait and see how quickly they grow so big rather than just deciding that i would separate them at a specific age e.g. 6 months or i was thinking i would wait until they are more active e.g. sitting up and wriggling around more as they may start to disturb the other by waking them up when they move

I think its a good idea, i have heard of it befor. It does let them bond, and they were together while inside you so it is something they are use to! It will help them sleep, I know some one who had wins and they wouldn't sleep very good unless the other twin was with them. I love the idea, if i had twins i would do the same!!!
